Set at the crossroads of Tonle Sap and Mekong rivers – Phnom Penh is a city of more than 2 million people, the capital of Cambodia and the country’s commercial, economic and political hub. Although it’s relatively less frequented as compared to its Thai or Vietnamese neighbours, tourist and business traveler numbers have steadily increased over the past few years and more travelers are projected to visit the city in the future. Phnom Penh has the country’s biggest international airport (the only other international airports are at Siem Reap and Sihanoukville) and is the main port of entry for most travelers to Cambodia.

It’s well connected to most parts of the country via road or air (railways are not much developed and aren’t used as public transport yet).
Road connectivity is to and from mostly parts of the country is quite good although you are advised to check the situation closer to your travel dates.Phnom Penh offers travelers a wide range of attractions and activities to choose from during the day and has a very active nightlife for those staying up late.

The main attractions are the National Museum, the Killing Fields, the Royal Palace and the vibrant Riverside area. In addition, there are numerous temples/pagodas, markets (including a night market), boat tours, excellent cafes, restaurants, spas and bars. The city has undergone significant development over the last few years and enjoys a cosmopolitan vibe. The city offers a wide variety of experiences and caters to a variety of budgets and tastes. There is no central bus station in Phnom Penh and buses congregate at meetings points located at various parts of the city – mainly around Central Market and Riverside/Sisowath Quay.
