Reviewing the Overnight Bus From Phnom Penh to Bangkok

I was recently afforded the opportunity to take the overnight bus from Phnom Penh to Bangkok from the travel company Virak Buntham Express through Camboticket. The bus pickup was conveniently located on street 106 in Phnom Penh on the corner with Preah Sisowath Quay (riverside or street 1), but pickup locations are scattered throughout the city no matter where you are staying.  The departure time was scheduled for 21:15 and we were on our way within two minutes of the scheduled departure time, a pleasantly punctual beginning.

Exploring Phnom Penh

Cambodia in 12 days – Part 1: Visiting Phnom Penh

So here is how our adventure starts.

We are three friends from Madrid doing an exchange year in Taichung (Taiwan) and we wanted to take the advantage of being in Asia to travel around the continent before going back to Spain.

Cambodia was relatively close to us, it had been recommended by a lot of people, and above all, we had a very good friend who was living there and spoke to us wonders about the country.

From Cambodia to Laos by Taxi

Laos is an incredible country to visit, so it is a shame that it is not easy to reach – until now! Regular buses cost at least $30 one-way to the Laos border, and the quality varies. For less per person than a bus ticket, we had our own mini-van, with a private driver at our disposal for more than 5 full days, taking us from Cambodia to Laos and back. Dream come true!

Private Taxi Cambodia: How to get to Koh Rong

The way from Phnom Penh to Koh Rong is not easy. You have to combine bus and ferry, adjust to times, and make sure that everything matches. Everything is even harder when you are a group of 22 people. But CamboTicket gave us the solution. Thanks to their new offering of private taxis in Cambodia, we were able to book two private cars and make our way from Phnom Penh to Koh Rong easy and fast.
